Turquoise curl

This is a hand built turquoise 'curl' burnished earthenware pot by Tina Vlassopulos. Tina has mixed a turquoise oxide into the clay, then constructed the pot using coils of the clay.Tina carefully hand burnished the pot when it was leather hard giving the pot a silky sheen. The direction of her stroke whilst burnishing gives the pot a sandstone-like grain. Tina has etched her mark into the base (pictured). This pot has not been glazed and cannot hold liquids. Tina Vlassopulos is pictured holding this pot in her studio.
