Unravelling

This hand built burnished stoneware pot by Tina Vlassopulos is entitled 'unravelling'. This piece looks different from every angle. Move a few inches and it changes again! Tina has mixed an oxide into the clay to give it a buff colour, she then constructed the pot using coils of the clay. Once fired Tina has hand burnished the pot giving the it a silk-like sheen. The direction of her stroke whilst burnishing gives the pot a sandstone-like grain. Tina has etched her mark into the base, the picture of her mark is enlarged. This pot has not been glazed and cannot hold liquids. Tina Vlassopulos is pictured holding this pot in her studio.
